Millionaire not too big for boots

Second-hand boots and a new wheelbarrow are on the shopping list of Dunedin's newest Bonus Bonds millionaire.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he couldn't believe it when he found out he had won the money.

''When I was told the news I felt like I couldn't breathe properly.

''I was in shock, so the lady said she would call back in 15 minutes.

''Even after a second phone call telling me the news I didn't believe it.''

A gardener and caregiver by trade, he planned to give $25,000 to his mother and reinvest $25,000 in Bonus Bonds.

''I will definitely buy myself a new wheelbarrow and a good pair of second-hand garden boots, but other than that I don't have much else I need.''

He would live off the interest of the winnings.

''It's changed my life, because I haven't got a worry in the world now. It's a fantastic feeling.''

He did not believe the win would change him.

''I'm not going to go mad; I'll keep a level head.

''I'm still going to be running around with my wheelbarrow and looking after Mum.''
