A 47-year-old Dunedin man has been charged with murder following the discovery of an older man's body in the suburb of Brockville.

Police confirmed the charge on Wednesday evening after the 66-year-old's body was discovered in the morning.

Scene examinations had begun at two properties in Dunedin, and a post-mortem examination was expected to be held on Thursday.

Police said they would like to thank members of the public for their help in the investigation.

Police were not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the incident, but inquiries were continuing.

The man was expected to appear in court tomorrow.
