Scaffolding is removed, revealing the exterior of the University of Otago’s new animal research facility in Great King St.

The building has been named the Eccles Building, after the Nobel Prize winner and former physiology department head Sir John Eccles.

Initially budgeted at $50million, the university now expects to spend just more than $60million on the project.

It was due to be completed earlier this year, but the project was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Comments

I'm sure Sir John Eccles is delighted to have an animal concentration camp named in his honour.
