North Dunedin items recovered

Police have arrested a man and recovered items believed to have been stolen from houses in North Dunedin.

On August 1, officers stopped a man riding a scooter on Albany St and found several items on him, police say.

He is believed to have unlawfully entered homes in the area between July 1 and August 1 this year.

After searching the man's property, police discovered more items including watches, ornaments, jewellery and a kindle.

Pocket watches, commemorative coins, cameras, wallets, a mobile phone and a Cambodian lighter were also located.

Police are seeking owners of the items. They would like North Dunedin residents to check their property and contact Constable Davies at the Dunedin Central Police Station on (03) 471-4869 to claim them.

A 26-year-old man was due to appear in the Dunedin District Court on September 2 on theft and burglary charges, as well as for driving while disqualified.
