A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car in Dunedin this morning.

A police spokeswoman said they were called to the scene, near Liverpool St, at 7.50am.

One person was taken to hospital with "non-life threatening injuries", she said.

The nature of the injuries and condition of the pedestrian was not known by police.

By 8.10am the road had been cleared and police were speaking to people at the scene, she said.
