Police call for witnesses

Dunedin police are asking the public for any sightings of two men running along Douglas St or Ajax St, in St Kilda, just after 9pm on Sunday, after the attempted robbery of the 10 O'Clock Dairy in Prince Albert Rd.

Investigations into the robbery continued yesterday, police said.

Two men, of medium build and wearing dark clothing, made off empty handed after an alarm was activated.

Waikouaiti police have received several complaints from rural landowners about thefts from woolsheds and outbuildings during the past month.

Constable Jon Paul Tremain said it appeared thieves were targeting rural properties.

Where practical, rural property owners should ensure homes and outbuildings were secure, or move valuable equipment to a more secure location, he said.

Police are following positive lines of inquiry following the burglary of a George St, Dunedin, flat yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Brian Benn said two men were interrupted at the flat just after 2pm.

The person who interrupted them gave chase, but after a short fist fight, the two men ran off.
