Police are appealing for any information after a woman was assaulted early on Saturday morning in Dunedin.
Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen a man assault a woman in the Octagon and later in Upper George St just before 1am on January 11.
Members of the public appeared to intervene and another assualt took place, police said.
They want to speak to those people, or anyone else that has information about the incident.
