Police in unmarked car catch speeder

A speeding driver was stopped after overtaking an unmarked police car near Dunedin.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said a 53-year-old man was clocked doing 128kmh in a 100kmh zone on the Northern Motorway (State Highway1) about 11.10am on Monday.

The man was pulled over by officers in an unmarked police car. He told them he did not think he was doing anything wrong, Snr Sgt Bond said.

Another driver was pulled over for passing several vehicles on a snow- and grit-covered section of the same road about 8.55am.

When spoken to by officers, the 34-year-old man told officers he was was running late for work.
