A thawing cake forgotten in a South Dunedin bus stop prompted a police response after concerns from the public.
Police received a report of a ‘‘suspicious package’’ from a member of the public on Monday afternoon.
A patrol unit went to the bus stop in Victoria Rd.
‘‘It was a suspicious package that turned out to be a frozen cake,’’ a police spokeswoman said.
The cake was found to be melting, but otherwise of no concern.
‘‘I don’t know what flavour or what happened to the cake,’’ the spokeswoman said.
