Prospects brighter for male child-care worker

He may not be in high demand, but there is hope on the horizon for Barnardos KidStart home-based educator Scott McInnes.

The Dunedin man completed his educator course recently, but had found it difficult to attract clients because of his gender.

However, an article in the Otago Daily Times on Saturday had attracted "lots of positive comments" and his first potential client.

Barnardos trainer recruiter Gail Beveridge said the mother was "of a different generation" and her greatest concern was if Mr McInnes and her child would get along.

They will meet soon to assess compatibility.
