Sacrilege Production performers (from left)  Miss Sadie Salome,  Andrea Woolf and Chicago Capricciosa read stories to a crowd of about 40 children and their carers at the Pride Hub on Princes St yesterday.

The Drag Story Time was part of the Dunedin Pride Festival.

Miss Salome said the story she read, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, was about sharing.

"It’s also about not letting people walk all over you but I didn’t realise ...  until I was an adult."

Qsquared Trust treasurer Hahna Briggs said the idea was to provide a range of events for all ages for the festival.

"It’s a great way of sharing stories of diversity to young people."

The trust got the idea from a similar concept in the United States, she said.
