Putting their best foot forward

Halfway Bush walking group founders Gaynor Earl (86, front left) and Pat Garth (87, front right) celebrate the group's 30th anniversary with members at Olveston.

Mrs Garth said the pair got the group together in 1987, mainly to promote companionship. It had about 18 members, who walked "all over the place'' including Halfway Bush, Doctors Point, city streets and beaches.

"`We're very good at walking and talking,'' Mrs Garth said. Walks were always followed by tea or coffee.
