More than 100 people dotted the Octagon lawn yesterday for the 2016 Robbie Rocks Dunedin competition.
Robyn Thomson and Jenny McDonald were among them, sitting on a bench not far from the stage.
They had read about the competition in the newspaper and decided to go along, Mrs Thomson said.
‘‘It's just a lovely day!''
Plus, she added, it was Mrs McDonald's birthday.
The Partial Fancies won the open section award, while Matthew Rhodes and Chris Butchard took home the people's choice prize and Strangs, Strings and Company won the youth section.
