Man caught after Mosgiel hunt

Police have apprehended a wanted man after swooping on Mosgiel and undertaking a search close to a primary school.

A police spokeswoman said at 2.50pm officers had been deployed to Green St to apprehend a ''known individual''.

A police dog was understood to be involved in the search and officers were looking in backyards for the man.

Silverstream (South) Primary School principal Greg Hurley said police had advised the school to only allow pupils to leave via the back gate in Arran St, and not leave via Green St as a police dog was operating in the area.

Police confirmed about 3.30pm the man had been arrested in High St and would face a number of charges.
