Taieri senior citizens, including Keith and Lucy Mattingly, of Mosgiel, were treated to a free mid-winter feast at Oak Hall, in the East Taieri Church complex.
More than 70 seniors enjoyed a three-course meal which included three types of soup, beef casserole with roast vegetables and apple short cake with fruit and ice cream.
Piano playing and sing-a-longs merrily filled in the gaps between the courses.
Community facilitator Joy Davis said it was a great opportunity for older folk to get out and about.
''It's a chance for them to come and meet others,'' she said.
''People tend to get shut in during this time of the year.''
The event, the second such one, was a collaborative effort between church co-ordinators and the hospitality team, Mrs Davis said.
