Highcliff Rd is now open to single-lane traffic.
The road has been closed between Sandymount and Seaton Rds since October so a major slip, which came down during heavy rain in April, could be cleared and the road repaired.
The DCC said there was still work to do at the site and it was likely the road would be fully reopened early next year.
