Darryl Smith, of Dunedin, is launching his book A Shattered Life in Christchurch tomorrow.

The Dunedin man spent more than a decade in state care, in New Zealand and Australia, beginning as a 7-year-old in the early 1970s.

The experience exposed him to sexual predators, which he told the Otago Daily Times about in an Insight series in 2017.

The self-published book includes his experiences, letters from lawyers, police statements and other material related to his time in care.

Mr Smith said the book was for both himself and other survivors of abuse.
