Taieri team's film makes finals

A Year 11 team from Taieri College is the only one from the South Island to make the finals of the New Zealand part of an international silent film competition.

The team's three-minute film 'The Chase' was inspired by silent film-era star Buster Keaton, and it has earned them one of the 12 places in the New Zealand final of the 2017 International Youth Silent Film Festival.

The film was shot in Middlemarch and centres on a stolen wallet.

The cast includes members of the crew's family, and various Middlemarch residents also became involved.

The pupils will attend the awards ceremony in Tauranga on Tuesday night where they will find out if they are in the prize money and, even better, whether they have been chosen for the world finals.
