KiwiRail staff work on a railway line on the Taieri Plain last month. KiwiRail South Island network services manager Jeanine Benson said KiwiRail staff had been taking advantage of the ‘‘quieter winter months’’ to complete maintenance work on the Taieri line. The work included upgrading the rail and laying new concrete sleepers.
