Taking charge of traffic

Senior Constable Kath Goodman had it all in hand, directing traffic in central Dunedin when the lights stopped working yesterday.

A Dunedin City Council spokeswoman said a fault in the traffic lights at the intersection of Frederick, George, London and Pitt Sts was reported at 5.30am.

"Warning signs were put up and the lights switched to flashing amber to warn motorists while technicians worked on the fault.''

The fault was repaired by 9am, she said.

A police spokeswoman said police were told the traffic lights were flashing orange about 7.50am.
