The Southern Heritage Trust has joined forces with the Dunedin Public Library to provide a series of free monthly talks on "Visions for Dunedin".

Trust founder Ann Barsby said  the past had "shaped our city’s special character, which we value".

The monthly talks would be held in the Dunningham Suite, on the third Tuesday of each month, starting next Tuesday,  with a talk by Dunedin writer Meg Davidson on "Peter Entwisle in Retrospect and Prospect".

The late historian and Otago Daily Times columnist had made a "vast contribution" to Dunedin, and the talk considered his legacy to the city, a library spokesman said.
