Talks on Ocean Grove developments

Developments could be in store for three Ocean Grove community buildings.

The Dunedin City Council is holding two meetings today to discuss a proposal to develop Ocean Grove Recreation Hall into a multi-use community facility.

Parks and Recreation group manager Robert West said residents would be invited to form a group to work with council staff to develop the scope of building improvements at the hall to meet the community's needs.

Staff would also talk about proposals for the other two council-owned community facilities in the area - the former Tomahawk School site and Ocean Grove Domain Hall.

The school closed in 2010, was bought by Ngai Tahu and then the council.

A kindergarten was set to move there, but withdrew its interest last year.

Two drop-in sessions would be held at 1pm and 5pm today at the Ocean Grove Recreation Hall.
