Team NZ arrives for Cup parade

Possible rain on Dunedin's America's Cup parade will not be enough to stop residents celebrating Team New Zealand's win.

Dunedin City Council events special projects co-ordinator Tammy Jackman said today's parade would go ahead, even if forecast showers arrived.

The forecast for today is showers, with southerly winds dying out.

However, ice could cause problems, and a final call on that concern would be made about 10am today.

The noon parade will feature 28 members of the sailing team. They arrived in Dunedin last night.

The parade is scheduled to start outside the Dental School in Great King St, then head down Frederick and George Sts to the Octagon, where there will be a civic welcome.

Ms Jackman said Team New Zealand's schedule meant the parade could not be postponed if the weather was bad.

Several thousand people turned out in Christchurch yesterday for that city's parade, despite sleet and snow.
