Ute on fire closes main highway

State Highway 1 south of Dunedin was closed briefly soon after 8am yesterday as Fire and Emergency New Zealand crews put out a Nissan ute on fire.

A police spokeswoman said police closed Main South Rd (SH1) at Riccarton Rd East so firefighters could extinguish the fire.
