Visitor donations up at Otago Museum

New visitors to the Otago Museum may be a key factor a recent 26% rise in donations, museum officials say.

Contributions to the museum donation box had risen to $19,811 in the first nine months of the latest financial year, from $15,707 in the comparable previous period, figures tabled at an Otago Museum Trust Board meeting yesterday showed.

Board chairwoman Margaret Collins said the "brilliant" increase reflected an overall increase in museum attendance, and indicated how much people valued what was being provided.
