His plucky red-billed gull, allegedly clipped by a car while heading to his favourite fishing spot yesterday morning, received treatment at Otago Museum's Hutton Theatre yesterday afternoon.

The bandaging took place during an event where children could bring their favourite toy animal and learn how to treat injuries with the team from the Dunedin Wildlife Hospital.

Attendees at the event, part of the Wild Dunedin Nature Festival, also discovered what goes on behind the scenes at the hospital, where staff treat and rehabilitate some of New Zealand's most treasured species.
