The refurbishment of Ross Creek reservoir has started.

Dunedin City Council capital delivery team leader Dominika Biziak-Kochan said Opus International Consultants had been employed to oversee the work.

A call for tenders closes on November 7  for construction to begin in January next year and run for about 18 months.

The main reason for the project was dam safety, focusing on strengthening the reservoir banks, she said.

The contractor would also repair and construct a new drainage system.During the work, some of the walks would be closed.
