East Otago High School pupil Nicole McLeod has been selected to fuel her passion for science at an international science camp in Singapore.

Nicole (16) a year 12 pupil, is one of four from this country chosen by the Royal Society of New Zealand to attend the Singapore International Science Camp from 30 May to 3 June.

"Nicole is a highly conscientious and motivated student,'' school principal Lennox Sharp said. She gained an overall excellence award in NCEA level one last year and is studying physics, chemistry and biology this year, with a view to studying pathology at the University of Otago.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
