Till killing do brothers part

I'm sorry it had to come to this, brother.
The Night Slasher flew through the cold noisy night and looked down to the busy streets of New York.

Flying through the air at night helped him to think and relax.

But tonight was no time to relax, because tonight he was looking for his evil twin brother, Scyther Blade.

Scyther Blade had failed at beating the Night Slasher hundreds of times.

But tonight was it. He could feel it in his gut.

Tonight one of them would win and one of them would die.

Scyther Blade hated the Night Slasher with every bone in his body, even though they were brothers.

But what the Night Slasher did 20 years back was unforgivable.

Scyther Blade's name had been Seth back then, and the Night Slasher had been called Devin.

But Seth had been separated from his parents and his twin brother at birth.

After 10 years, Seth found his mother stabbed to the wall and his father on the ground dead of a head injury.

Seth had thought it was Devin's fault. So he vowed revenge on Devin and had tried to kill him ever since.

And then something flying in the distance broke into his flashback, and he saw that the flying figure was the Night Slasher.

Scyther Blade held up his hand and formed a knife out of darkness and threw it directly at his brother.

It hit him and Scyther Blade watched him drop. But it wasn't over yet.

He flew down to finish the job.

The Night Slasher pulled the weapon that had been used against him out of his stomach and watched the knife of darkness fade away in his hand.

Now he knew exactly who had thrown it.

He looked up to see Scyther Blade wearing a dark grey cloak, using both hands to hold his mighty, blood-dripping scythe.

His face showed blazing red eyes that spewed pure hatred.

"Look, for the millionth time, I didn't kill our parents for fun," the Night Slasher shouted.

"Liar," Scyther Blade boomed.

The Night Slasher felt like someone had ripped his heart in two as his mind thought back to that night.

His father had been a killer and his mother had found out about it.

When she tried to confront him, his father killed her.

And then the Night Slasher (Devin) unlocked his powers and killed his own father with the shadows.

"I'm sorry it had to come to this, brother," the Night Slasher said quietly.

And they clashed.

The battle was long and fierce.

Eventually, the Night Slasher overpowered Scyther Blade, who gave out a cry of pain and then slumped forward.

The Night Slasher gently lay down Scyther Blade's body and hoped so much that Scyther Blade now knew the truth.

But to his horror his brother's last words were, "I hate you!"

And then he lay back and let death consume him.

The shadows crept in and wrapped around his body and carried him away to the next world.

But the Night Slasher only wished that his brother had realised the truth before the end.
