Gareth Morgan says older New Zealanders are "screwing the younger generation".

The Leader of TOP (The Opportunity Party) told Newshub he is not too surprised by the party's low results.

During the live coverage of the election results, Morgan hit out at the voters, calling them "selfish".

"I'm incredibly disappointed. They're screwing the younger generation. You bet they're selfish," he said.

With more than twenty percent of the votes counted, TOP was sitting firmly below the 5 percent threshold.

Despite the number of votes left to count, Morgan does not discard the possibility of a landslide victory for National.

"Well it looks like it, doesn't it," he said.
