A Timaru Street was closed briefly yesterday as the armed offenders squad pulled over a vehicle believed to contain weapons, including a samurai sword.
Police were told about the sword after being called to a domestic incident on Tekapo St at 10.15am and speaking with a woman there, the Timaru Herald reported.
Sergeant Tristan Murray said a man, who cooperated when stopped by police on Douglas St, has been charged with assault and possession of an offensive weapon.
