Armed teen still on run after failed dairy raid

A gun-toting teenager was still at large today after holding up a Hastings dairy yesterday.

The offender walked into the dairy in Karamu Rd shortly after 12.30pm, pointed a firearm at staff and demanded money.

The shopkeeper pressed an alarm button and the teen fled empty-handed before police arrived.

Armed police cordoned off several streets around the dairy and scoured the area for four hours but found no sign of the teen.

The offender was described as European, in his mid to late teens. He was wearing a grey hoodie and light-coloured jeans.

Police said he was regarded as dangerous and should not be approached.
