A man's body has been discovered in a central Whangarei stream this morning.
Police have set up a cordon around the scene on a walkway running alongside the Waiarohia Stream. Tarpaulins cover part of the stream, which runs alongside Cafler Park.
Emergency services were called to the area just after 9.20am after a member of the public found the body in the stream.
A Northpower worker was called in to remove a powerline to allow access for a Fire Service appliance, with police using the ladder from the vehicle to survey the scene from above.
