A 7-year-old boy who was hit by a car in Tauranga last night is in a critical condition in hospital.
The boy sustained serious injuries in the crash, which took place on Meander Drive around 6pm.
He was flown to Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland last night, where he was placed in an induced coma.
He is currently in a critical but stable condition, a spokesperson for the hospital said this morning.
The police were speaking with the driver of the vehicle last night.
The serious crash unit were investigating.
