The sudden death of a man whose body was found inside a Christchurch house late last night is still unexplained, police say.
Emergency services were called to a house on Vagues Rd in the Papanui suburb about 11.30pm yesterday.
A male's body was located inside the property, police said.
Next of kin have not yet been informed.
Senior Sergeant Angela Grace said there was no evidence of there being a disturbance in the area last night.
Ms Grace said any death was first treated as being suspicious and they then went through an elimination process.
"We are just being cautious on this one," she said.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow and its results could determine which direction the police investigation takes.
