A classroom at Waihi College was badly damaged by fire this morning.
A Fire Service spokesperson said crews were called to the school about 10.34am.
She said the classroom was "well involved" by the time crews arrived.
The fire had since been contained and crews were dampening down hotspots, she said.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Fire safety officers were investigating the cause.
