Concern grows for missing Christchurch man

Police say they are concerned for a Christchurch man who left for work and has not been seen since.

Mark William Robinson, 37, has been missing since Friday morning.

His car has since been found near Tapawera, between Murchison and Nelson and police believe he may be in the Tasman district.

"Robinson left for work at around 7.30am on Friday but did not go to work as usual," said Detective Constable Keith Olds.

"We believe he travelled to Nelson, and then on towards Murchison.

"His car, a gold Mazda MX5 convertible, was found by police yesterday evening on a back road near Tapawera," he said.

Mr Olds said an initial search of the area had not revealed any sign of Williams.

While police were not treating the disappearance as suspicious at this stage, it was out of character for Williams.

"We urge Mr Robinson to contact police as soon as possible. We would also like to hear from anyone who has seen Mr Robinson or had contact with him since Friday morning - or who knows anything about his whereabouts," Mr Olds said.
