A Wellington motorway has re-opened after a multi-vehicle crash blocked the southbound lane near Porirua.
Six cars and one motorcycle were involved in the crash at 6.40am on State Highway 1, about 1km south of Porirua, Senior Sergeant Marc Clausen of police central communications said.
Nobody was seriously injured, with most of the occupants requiring no medical treatment.
However, the motorcyclist and a woman who was six months' pregnant were taken to Wellington Hospital for precautionary medical checks.
Police said the motorway had been cleared and was fully open as at 7.45am.
They had earlier asked motorists to delay their travel or take alternate routes, through Tawa or over the Haywards Hill.
The cause of the crash was not yet known.
