Cruise ship tourist killed in Tauranga named

Police have named the American cruise ship tourist killed in a cycling accident in Tauranga last week.

She was 71-year-old Carol Ann MacMillan from the United States.

The New York woman was on a short cycle excursion with several other passengers when she collided with a truck near the Tauranga Harbour Bridge on November 22.

She had been travelling with her husband on the cruise ship Celebrity Solstice, which berthed at the Port of Tauranga at 8am that day.

Ms MacMillan was on a harbourside bike tour when the accident happened at the intersection of Mirrielees Rd and Te Awanui Dr just after midday and died at the scene,

An investigation into the crash is continuing and police were unable to comment further.

Last week, her husband publicly thanked the Tauranga community for their condolences and show of support.
