Drivers rescued after powerlines fall

The occupants of two cars trapped under fallen powerlines in Te Puke are being removed.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Ian Campion said the power company had arrived and were removing people from the cars.

The powerlines had fallen down across two parked cars. Two people were reported to be inside each of the vehicles.

Mr Campion said he did not yet know why the powerlines had fallen down as no crash had been reported.
