A woman in her 50s has died in a suspected drowning incident in Northland today.
Emergency services were called to Takou Beach, between the Bay of Islands and the Whangaroa Harbour about 12.50pm, a St John spokeswoman said.
The woman had died before an ambulance crew arrived at the scene.
The circumstances of how the woman died were not yet known, the spokeswoman said.
