A female is dead after two vehicles collided in Manurewa, south Auckland, this afternoon.
Inspector Kerry Watson from northern police communications said the collision happened on Dalgety Drive at 2.30pm.
Four people were taken to hospital and a female later died as a result of injuries she suffered.
The male driver of one of the vehicles was arrested and charged with alcohol-related offences and assault of a firefighter at the scene.
Mr Watson said he did not know which car the female was travelling in.
Serious crash investigators are investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
Mr Watson said the arrested driver would be appearing in Manukau District Court.
