Fireworks fired into house

Fireworks were fired through the window of a Cobden house early yesterday morning while the occupants slept.

Senior constable Mike Tinnelly said the Ward Street house could have burned to the ground as a result of the incident, between 1am and 5am.

The occupants were asleep and only discovered the broken window and evidence of the fireworks later in the morning. Mr Tinnelly said it was lucky they did not ignite the interior of the house. Police inquiries are continuing. "This is another act of complete stupidity because there was nothing to stop that house going on fire," Mr Tinnelly said.
