Four arrested after crime spree

Four people have been arrested in connection with a crime spree, including an arson attack on a police station, across Wellington late last month.

Three men, aged 25, 28 and 43 and a 51-year-old woman are expected to face a variety of charges in relation to a series of alleged offending.

Charges included burglary, car thefts, arsons and a ram raid, Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Dunn of the Wellington CIB said.

"At the time of these alleged incidents, we said we were taking a zero tolerance approach to this type of anti-social behaviour and we meant it."

Police searched two properties in Newlands and Miramar today, with a large amount of stolen property found, Mr Dunn said.

All four arrested will be appearing in the Wellington District Court this afternoon. Further arrests and charges were likely, he said.

The alleged spree included the theft of three Subaru cars, molotov cocktails hurled at the Karori community police station, a car set alight in suburban Highbury, a Brooklyn liquor store ram-raided and about 100 bottles of spirits stolen, and the Storage King and the Tile Warehouse burgled.
