French tourist attacker's sentencing delayed

A man who admitted beating and robbing two French tourists has had his sentencing delayed until next year.

Bo-Tamati Rawiri was to be sentenced in the Tauranga District Court today but Judge Peter Rollo adjourned the matter until January 21 for further information to be obtained from legal counsel.

Police say two French tourists were hitchhiking from Tauranga to Rotorua on the afternoon of July 7 when they were picked up, beaten and robbed.

Bo-Tamati Rawiri, 26, from Ngaruawahia pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery charges.
