Fundraising appeal for dog attack victim

A fundraising appeal has been launched to help the 7-year-old girl mauled by dogs in Murupara.

Japanese girl Sakurako Uehara remains under sedation in a critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit at Middlemore Hospital.

She was attacked by four dogs at a Murupara property on Monday.

Her family does not qualify for state-funded care and it's expected Sakurako faces a long journey to recovery.

The Middlemore Foundation for Health Innovation guarantees every cent donated will go directly to the cause.
