Good samaritan tweets her thanks

An Auckland woman who was seriously injured while intervening in a bag snatch has tweeted a message to say she was recovering from her injuries.

Lucy Knight, 43, suffered a fractured skull and underwent emergency surgery for a brain bleed after she was allegedly hit by a teenager trying to steal another woman's bag at Countdown Northcote last month.

The mother-of-six returned for a visit to her Birkenhead home at the weekend, from a brain injury rehabilitation facility, to celebrate eldest daughter Laura's 22nd birthday.

On Twitter today, she thanked her "amazing Twitter peeps".

"Love u lots, so lucky I'm getting better, have had so many lovely msgs from u <3 On line a teensy, miss you!"

Earlier, her husband Peter Thomas said he continued to be humbled and overwhelmed by the amazing public response.

Last week the Help Lucy givealittle page was closed with a record $269,934 donated towards Ms Knight's recuperation.
