A provincial hockey player arrested over an alleged hit-and-run incident in Auckland in which a woman received a serious leg injury was remanded on bail today.
Prasant Nathoo, also under investigation in relation to an assault on a sex worker 10 minutes before the crash, entered no plea when his case was called before a registrar.
He was remanded to reappear in Auckland District Court on December 15.
Nathoo, 22, has been charged with reckless driving causing injury on Ponsonby Rd about 4.20am last Friday and failing to stop after a crash to see if anyone was injured.
He was located at a North Shore address later that day after a car was found abandoned about 2km from the scene.
The 36-year-old woman who was struck while she got out a taxi remains in Auckland Hospital, where she was described today as being in a stable condition.
Police said investigations were continuing into the attack on the sex worker in Franklin St, which runs off Ponsonby Rd.
The 43-year-old victim was also taken to hospital but was discharged on the same day.
Detective Sergeant Jason McIntosh said the woman had not yet filed a formal complaint and the exact nature of the assault was still being determined.
Aucklander Nathoo played for the lower North Island side the Central Mavericks in this year's national hockey league.
