A homicide investigation has been launched after a middle aged woman was found dead at a property north of Paraparaumu yesterday.
She was found in Otaihanga around 1.45pm.
A 29-year-old man who police said was known to the woman was located nearby and has been placed under arrest.
He is being held in police custody and will appear in the Porirua District Court on Monday charged with murder.
Detective Senior Sergeant John van den Heuvel said police were not seeking anyone else.
The Otaihanga address was guarded overnight and a full scene examination is due to take place this morning.
A post mortem on the victim's body is expected to take place tomorrow.
Details of the victim's identity would be released when the woman's next-of-kin were informed, Mr van den Heuvel said.
