A hotline set up after a giant stash of stolen goods was uncovered has helped return stolen motorbikes and kitchen appliances to burglary victims.

The enormous trove, including scaffolding, dishwashers, fireworks and a 30,000 litre water tank, was so big it took up 12 shipping containers and multiple sheds.

The majority of the stolen goods have now been identified and returned to their owners.

Police said all of the motorbikes, trail bikes, quad bikes and most kitchen appliances, which were stolen from homes under construction in the Rodney area, were returned to their owners.

It was believed the Dairy Flat find was the biggest stolen goods seizure in the history of Waitemata police district.

The thefts mostly happened over the past 18 months, police said.

Ovens, vanity units, hot water cylinders and fridge freezers were also found after the police raid last week.

So were dozens of bags of cement.

Police said members of the public can call 09 424 6509 or email optank@police.govt.nz for more information.
